In the second half of 2008 Maisha Mapya received a kind donation from Share4More - Rabobank through Mr and Mrs Ton Zaal in The Netherlands. Mr Zaal had asked Share4More to allocate part of his "share" to the building of a new classroom for Maisha Mapya, which they fully supported. This new classroom will be designated for more practical subjects such as cooking, hotel management practical and art classes.

The building took a lot of time and energy, but we are now happy to see the final result.

Congratulations Anna, well done!!

Anna Davidson in the UK raised funds for Maisha Mapya by cycling 1,000 miles from Land's End to John O'Groats in 2008. She wrote: "The choice of charity is really important to me and has a bit of history. This year I was awarded a prize by the University of Edinburgh, which is allowing me to fund the trip, and in doing so I want to pass on something positive. I was fortunate in my education, and this is my chance to help out young people at the Maisha Mapya Education Centre in Moshi, Tanzania. The centre is planning to build a third classroom (for domestic science classes) and needs funds for materials in the room, such as shelves, tables, chairs, stoves and cooking materials."

The classroom is now finished and the Centre already purchased 4 large tables and 30 sturdy chairs. Also a strong cupboard was bought to store teaching materials. Cooking materials and a stove will be bought soon.

Thanks also to the Tanzania Development Trust in the UK to make it possible for Anna to raise funds through the Justgiving website. TDT is a lively aid & development charity that promotes understanding and friendship.

Anna Knops (who stayed one year in Moshi with her parents) played the flute, while Tunde Krux and Nadine Robeers played clarinets.

During the Xmas market in Valkenburg aan de Geul (Limburg, The Netherlands) three students performed as musical street artists to collect money for Maisha Mapya.

They performed twice and managed to collect over 100 Euro to support the work of Maisha Mapya.

A big thanks to those brave students who performed so well and raised awareness about education in Africa!
